iconDry skin cause acne?

How does dry skin cause acne would be easier to understand, once we know what dry skin is and what causes its dryness. Dry skin is a condition relating to the appearance and feel of skin. Dry skin appears dull and tight and feels rough and leathery or parched. On account it’s being too tight around the skeletal contours, some wrinkles in the vicinity of tight areas appear. Not only the dry skin looks dull and unattractive but also it feels too tight and itchy at times

What are the causes of dry skin?

Insufficient supply of sebum (oil), deficiency of some vitamins, particularly vitamin A and inappropriate humectants or the ability to retain water, climatic factors and negligence in skin care are the common causes. A few diseases, use of some medicines and hereditary factors also cause dry skin. Alcohol containing hand lotions dissolve fats not only from the exterior but also from the interior of skin, rendering it dry. It is therefore very important to know prior to use, if such lotion contains suitable emollient.

An important assignable cause of dry skin

An important cause of dry skin is the loss of moisture from skin to the atmosphere. As a rule of thumb, things (including skin) loose moisture when the atmospheric relative humidity is more than that of the object and vice versa. There is no tendency to loose or gain when the atmospheric humidity is in equilibrium with that of the object.

Can dry skin cause acne?

When skin starts to dry for any reason, demand for increased supply of sebum is initiated through nervous system and it is materialized through hormonal activation. Sebaceous glands expand as a result and sebum is supplied generously through hair follicle.

Dry skin on the other hand already contains lots of cell fragments and extraneous matter in the crevices of parched skin. Uneven surfaces always become seat of germs and bacteria.

The causativemicrobe; Propionibacterium acnes which is a commensal or a normal resident on human skin, make way to the sebum and debris mix. Growing fast, they cause typical lesions ,known as acne by us and as ‘folliculitis’ by dermatologists.

Corrective and preventive action

Beauty without beautiful skin can be ill conceived. Dry skin or acne are of course no recommendations. Secret of soft and silky smooth skin lies not in expensive cosmetics but in due skincare. Just keep your skin clean and moist, using some neutral (pH7 is neutral) and mild cleanser. Use of essential oils, emollients and humectants to moisturize the skin are time tested practices. To keep the skin soft and smooth they should be relied upon.

Alovera is a succulent and perhaps one of the oldest known plants used in beauty care on account of its extraordinary softening, moisturizing, and healing properties. Not only that it can heal acne lesions but also it can heal burns without leaving scars. A mixture of equal parts of lemon extract, glycerin and rose water is an oriental, standard emollient.
